Initiatives
Student Affairs’ initiatives are designed to create an environment where students will encounter an extraordinary college experience. The result is a graduate prepared for a productive career, engaged as a citizen and involved in dynamic, positive relationships.
Enhance students’ residential experience
- Build more residence halls to house an additional 1,000 students.
- Replace the existing fraternity and sorority housing with a new Greek Village.
- Develop additional dining options on campus.
Enhance the health and safety of TCU students
- Assess and allocate new technologies, facilities, equipment and personnel where needed to ensure a healthy and safe campus environment.
- Identify issues and trends that affect the mental or physical health and safety of students, and which may impede their academic success.
- Focus on health promotion initiatives.
- Assure appropriate staffing and services in the Counseling Center and Health Center.
- Develop effective programming to counter abusive use of alcohol and other drugs.
Implement Community Renewal program
- Develop a “We Care” program of commitments to the well-being of others both on and off campus.
- Residence Hall “We Care” initiatives planned and implemented in every hall.
- Cultivate an environment that welcomes and supports diversity and inclusiveness.
- Engage students in meaningful conversations on social justice, equality and inclusivity in a variety of campus venues.
- Strengthen off campus neighborhood connections.
Help students prepare for life after college
- Implement career development programs in each college.
- Enhance the student internship program.
- Attract additional companies to recruit at TCU.
- Develop a portfolio program that catalogues a student’s strengths and skills.
- Help students develop financial literacy.
- Assist students in understanding the role of spirituality and values in their lives.
Encourage the development of student leadership, responsibility and accountability
- Infuse the student experience with leadership opportunities.
- Help students set personal and academic goals and create realistic strategies to achieve them.
- Continue to uphold standards concerning the intersection of values and behavior.
- Engage students in community service-learning opportunities.
