Things to do in Fort Worth

Fun On Campus

They say Fort Worth is where the West began. In fact, some natives argue over the exact street. Despite that debate, Fort Worth is where your new collegiate experience will truly begin. In America’s 17th largest city, you’ll find cowboys, commerce, culture, and community. A Western heritage blended with Southern hospitality makes Fort Worth one of the country’s most livable cities.

If you like sports, Fort Worth and the surrounding Metroplex offer world-class teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, and Dallas Mavericks. We also host major sporting events in our area such as two NASCAR races at Texas Motor Speedway, the Armed Forces Bowl Game, and even the Super Bowl in 2011.

If you prefer the arts, there is something for everyone in Fort Worth. Did you know that there are several museums in Fort Worth? Most of these museums are within 15 minutes of the TCU Campus. Bass Hall, located in downtown Fort Worth, is host to many fine arts events, such as Broadway productions, the symphony, the ballet, the opera, and other theatrical events.

If you want to truly experience where the West began, you’ll find your adventure in the Stockyards. At Billy Bob's, you can take line dancing lessons in the world’s largest honky-tonk. While you’re in the Stockyards, be sure to check out the daily cattle drive down Exchange Avenue. The annual Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo at the Will Rogers Memorial Center or a visit to the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame will certainly put you in a Wild West frame of mind.

Just like TCU, Fort Worth is a vibrant, unique, and exciting community. We can’t wait for you to join us!
